Scripture Focus: Galuega 3:11-16

As the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering. When Peter saw it, he responded to the people, “You men of Israel, why do you marvel at this man? Why do you fasten your eyes on us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to release him. But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, to which we are witnesses. By faith in his name, his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which is through him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
- Acts 3:11-16 (WEB)

Study:

This passage reveals a powerful testimony of faith and the authority found in the name of Jesus. Peter and John, witnessing the miraculous healing of a lame man, make it clear that it was not by their own power or holiness that this miracle occurred but by faith in the name of Jesus Christ. Jesus is identified as the Servant glorified by God, the Holy and Righteous One rejected by the people, yet raised from the dead - the Prince of life. This healing not only restores the man physically but also serves as a witness to the living power of Jesus’ name. The faith in Jesus’ name is what gives strength and healing, demonstrating the recognition of Jesus as the source of life and restoration.

Application:

Today, this scripture reminds us of the power and authority invested in the name of Jesus. When we face challenges, difficulties, or even feel weak in faith, we can call upon Jesus’ name with confidence, knowing that through Him comes healing, restoration, and strength. Just as the lame man held onto Peter and John, so too we are invited to hold fast to Jesus with faith. Recognising Jesus as the source of our strength encourages us to trust Him in every circumstance and to witness of His power to others around us.

Reflection Questions:

  • How do I respond when I see the power of Jesus at work in the lives of others?
  • In what ways have I experienced healing or restoration through faith in Jesus’ name?
  • How can I hold more firmly to Jesus in times of weakness or uncertainty?
  • What does recognising Jesus as the Holy and Righteous One mean for my daily living?
  • How can I share the testimony of Jesus’ power with those around me?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, we thank You for the power and authority in Your name. Help us to recognise You as our source of healing, strength, and life. Teach us to hold fast to You in faith, trusting in Your promises even when circumstances are difficult. May our lives testify to Your grace and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
