Scripture Focus: Faaaliga 22:1-5
He showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On this side of the river and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruits, yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There will be no curse any more. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no night, and they need no lamp light; for the Lord God will illuminate them. They will reign forever and ever.

Study:
This passage from Revelation reveals a glorious vision of the new creation where God's eternal presence is fully realized. Central to this vision is the tree of life, positioned on both sides of the river flowing from God's throne. The tree’s twelve kinds of fruit, bearing monthly harvests, symbolize continuous provision and abundance. Moreover, its leaves bring healing, signaling restoration not just for individuals but for whole nations. This imagery recalls the tree of life from Genesis, showing God's plan for eternal life and healing through His kingdom. The absence of any curse and no need for light emphasizes the perfect, unbroken fellowship between God and His people in heaven, where they will reign forever under His illumination.
Application:
Today, the tree of life reminds us that God’s provision and healing are ongoing promises to His people. Though we live in a fallen world, we can hold on to the hope of restoration and eternal life through Jesus Christ. This encourages believers to live in faith, trusting God’s healing in our lives and communities. We are also called to reflect God’s light as we serve Him faithfully, living as people who anticipate His reign forever. The vision challenges us to embrace God’s plan for wholeness and to be agents of healing and peace in the world.
Reflection Questions:
- How does the vision of the tree of life inspire your understanding of God’s provision and healing?
- In what ways can you be a source of healing and hope in your community?
- What does it mean for you personally to “reign forever” with God?
- How can you better reflect God’s light in your daily life?
Prayer:
Lord God, thank You for the hope and promise shown in the tree of life. Help us to trust in Your continuous provision and healing. Teach us to live faithfully as Your servants, reflecting Your light to a world in need. Prepare our hearts for the day we will reign with You in eternal joy. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
